Poetry 16: Between Sleep and Walking

I wished to wrap my arms around you
And protect you from a world that's vile
But forgot about the demons inside you
Inside your head, and full of wiles
I wished that I could maybe reach you
Make you see what my eyes see
I want to help take your masks off of you
To show how majestic you can be
But you are stubborn and full of pride
You do not ask and rarely plead
And you tell me that you'll pass this tide
Alone, but my love there's hardly need.
For I am here, you have my hands to share
I'll stand by you and the problems you bear
Because I love you and this is true
I'll stand by you until this is through
